Karsyn’s 1st Day of School!

School

We can’t believe that our ‘little bundle of joy’ is now a big boy! We found a great Christian school called Waterkloof Christian College literally walking distance from our home. We have some other friends that work at the office, SID, that have their kids/grandkids there and based on their recommendations decided to send him there. He is only there from 7:45am to noon, but we thought it would benefit him well to be around other kids his age and be taught by a skilled teacher. I did not go to school for education so I prefer to leave it to the experts.

I must say that I had mixed feelings when I woke up that morning and I am sure Kirk did as well. Our little baby was joining the big leagues. We thought we were ready, but we really weren’t. Glad to say, Kirk was able to take the day off so all of us, yes the whole family, went to see Karsyn off to his 1st day of school. When we arrived the parking lot was packed with parents dropping off their kids and a few decided to stay for the assembly that was prepared to welcome the kids. Below are some pictures of us arriving at the school and of the assembly, and finally of Karsyn settling into his classroom with his classmates. He is 1 of 5 kids in his class and we are pleased with his teacher.

So far he is really enjoying school and learning and growing in so many ways. Khenzi misses her big brother and every morning as I am going to take Karsyn she makes sure she asks for her bag too and hops into the car as if she is going as well. It’s a bawlfest everytime Karsyn tells her goodbye before running into school and she asks for him a lot during the day but with time I am sure she will get used to having mummy all to herself in the mornings. Take a look!

It is always an em emotional experience to see your kids start school…this phase of life. Sometimes I think that it is harder for you, than it is for them.

But the first days they finally count, read, write their name, or show you artwork from school. It makes the entire experience worthwhile.

    Thanks for sharing.

Thanks Farron, you are right. My heart fills with pride every time his teacher shows me something he has done in class. It’s definitely worth it to see him grow and learn. You definitely feel a special love when you have a child. God is amazing…
